The Weeknd is an Emmy nominee!
The Toronto singer has earned 3 nominations for his Super Bowl LV halftime performance in the following categories: Outstanding Variety Special, Outstanding Lighting Design/Lighting Direction For A Variety Special and Outstanding Technical Direction, Camerawork, Video Control For A Special. He’s joined by past nominees Bruno Mars, Prince and Bruce Springsteen, who have all received Emmy nominations for their Super Bowl halftime performances. Needless to say, The Weeknd was honoured.
In addition to his Emmy nods, the 31-year-old tweeted about his upcoming project, calling it a “full body of work” that’s made him “really proud.” Back in May, he told Variety magazine that “if the last record is the after hours of the night, then the dawn is coming.”
