Alessia Cara releases her third studio album In The Meantime, and reflects on so much that has happened in the past few years – growth, healing and as of recently, isolation.
On her latest project, the Canadian songstress shows a side of maturity, yet she still knows how to have fun. In The Meantime delivers a mix of R&B and indie pop, and has a few catchy, playlist-worthy songs as well. As always, Alessia’s creativity and talent does not go unnoticed. Not only did she write all 18 tracks, she’s also quite the character (or should I say ‘characters’) in some of her music videos too.
Due to the lockdown and not being able to travel, Cara was able to work with some of Canada’s best producers, including Boi-1da, Mike Wise, Doc McKinney and more. “The pandemic and lack of travel really helped push me towards working with Canadian producers because, yeah, I had to kind of stay home,” she said in an interview with Complex Canada. “I really got to lock in with Canadian people in my home, which is also great.”
