Mary J. Blige returns with new music and taps Harlem rapper Dave East for “Rent Money”.
On the D’Mile-produced track, Blige is ready to move on, and has a few words for a former lover who left her with a broken heart.
This isn’t love this is foolish / I just want back what I put into this / And then I’ll keep movin’ / All of my chips on the table / ‘Cause I never got what I came for / Not leaving till I am stable
“Rent Money” is the follow-up to Mary’s previously-shared singles “Amazing” and “‘Good Morning Gorgeous”, which happens to be the title of her upcoming project. The singer’s 15th album arrives on February 11 and features a slew of guest appearances, including Anderson .Paak, Usher and more.
The Queen of Hip-Hop Soul is also gearing up for this year’s Super Bowl halftime show, where she will be performing with Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem and Kendrick Lamar at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California on February 13.
