John Legend’s latest body of work is quite…legendary.
The singer (and EGOT winner) released his eight studio album LEGEND. Executive produced by Legend and One Republic’s Ryan Tedder, the double disc features collaborations with some very talented artists like Jhené Aiko, Jazmine Sullivan, Muni Long, Rick Ross, JID, Saweetie and others.
Although LEGEND is a new project, it already feels like a classic – with songs like “Honey”, a jazz-inspired R&B track with Muni Long, and the bedroom jam “Splash”, featuring Jhené Aiko and Ty Dolla $ign. When asked about the significance of the title, John said, “until this point, I’ve never used an aspect of my name as the title of an album. I had to earn that, to live up to it by delivering in the performance and the music. And this is me saying, I’m proud of who I am, I’m confident in the work I’ve done, and I’m just going to declare it.” Well said!
John is set to perform “Pieces” at the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards on Monday and next month, he returns with the second leg of his Las Vegas residency, Love in Las Vegas, with shows running from October 14th through October 29th.
