After six years, Rihanna is back!
The singer returns with her new single “Lift Me Up”, a ballad from the soundtrack to the blockbuster sequel Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The song is a tribute to the life and legacy of actor Chadwick Boseman, and was written by Tems, Rihanna, Ludwig Göransson and director Ryan Coogler.
“After speaking with Ryan and hearing his direction for the film and the song, I wanted to write something that portrays a warm embrace from all the people that I’ve lost in my life,” said Tems in a statement. “I tried to imagine what it would feel like if I could sing to them now and express how much I miss them. Rihanna has been an inspiration to me so hearing her convey this song is a great honor.” A second song by Rihanna will also be featured on the soundtrack.
The singer, and new mom, has been keeping busy over the past few years as her career has expanded far beyond music. The success of both her cosmetic brand Fenty Beauty, and lingerie line Savage x Fenty, have made her a self-made billionaire.
Rih is also prepping for her performance at the 2023 Super Bowl Halftime Show, which will take place in Februray. And yes, we are still waiting on that album!
