SZA delivers her second studio alum SOS, the follow-up to her 2017 project CTRL.
The 23-track set highlights the singer’s exceptional talent. In her Billboard cover story from last month, SZA admitted it was difficult to balance her personal life and a new album cycle. “I could literally burst into tears and run through this wall at any moment. I am effectively falling apart. But it’s not like, the album pressure… It’s just, life is f**king hard. To be expected to do anything at a high level while life is life-ing is f**king crazy. This isn’t meant for a person; it’s meant for a machine.”
SOS, which features the single “Shirt”, also boasts appearances from artists such as Don Toliver, Phoebe Bridgers, Travis Scott and Ol’ Dirty Bastard. Although SZA did talk about a December release, it wasn’t until her appearance on SNL last week that she revealed the December 9 date in the background, during one of her performances.
